Information for Out-of-Town Leg Vein Patients

Because standard sclerotherapyUltrasound Guided Sclerotherapy (UGS) and Endovenous Laser Ablation (ELA) are still unavailable in many areas, we have developed a protocol to enable us to treat out-of-area patients. After appropriate telephone screening by our staff, appropriate patients are given detailed information on the appropriate procedure. UGS and standard sclerotherapy can be performed on the same day as the consultation but if ELA is appropriate this needs to be scheduled for a later date. Patients are supplied with the details of local accommodation if necessary. Patients are allowed to return home on the same day if they are travelling by car. Air travel is permitted on the same day if travel time is less than 4 hours. Flights greater than 4 hours can be undertaken after 1 week.

Procedure reports are mailed to the referring general practitioner. In general, minor follow-up care may be rendered by the patient's general practitioner. Of course, our doctors are always willing to discuss cases directly with general practitioners after receiving permission to do so from the patient.

Vein Doctors Group has treated patients from all over Australia and also many from overseas who have travelled specifically to Australia for treatment.
