What sort of leg veins do you have?

Spider Veins

Threadlike veins about the size of a human hair that can appear anywhere over the legs.

  • Veins are approximately 0.5-1mm wide.
  • Veins are ofter connected.
  • Veins can be red or purple in colour.

Varicose Veins

Veins that bulge above the skin.

  • Veins are approximately 2-4mm wide.
  • Usually blue/green in colour.
  • May be associated with aching or heaviness on the legs.

Large Varicose Veins or Medical Superglue

Veins that bulge significantly above the skin - like a "bunch of grapes".

  • Veins are approximately 4+mm wide.
  • May be associated with more severe symptoms including dermatitis and ulcers.
  • Usually associated with gross underlying reflux.
